NuWay-K&H Cooperative

NuWay-K&H Cooperative was formed when NuWay Cooperative and K&H Energy merged in the fall of 2018. The new company maintains 5 offices, 23 satellites, 6 c-stores and 8 Cardtrol locations across northern Iowa and southern Minnesota.

With an expanded marketplace, NuWay-K&H Cooperative faced the daunting task of communicating with two audiences, its customers and employees. The customers needed assurance that the benefits of the merger they had voted for were being realized. The employees need to know that the best of both cultures were being built into the new company.

VistaComm, who did customer and employee communications for one of the companies prior to the merger, began devoting a generous amount of space to demonstrating the advantages of the merger, in the Communicator, which is the newsletter for customers. In the Advance newsletter, VistaComm gave particular attention to encouraging and sharing as much information as possible with the employee group. Care was taken to include management staff from both legacy companies in these newsletters to assure both audiences that NuWay-K&H Cooperative had truly been formed by a merger of equals.

“We’re seeing efficiencies and benefits from the merger that will continue to bring value and benefits to our members and our customers.”

—Kevin Jones, CEO, in the Winter 2019 Communicator customer newsletter.
